The Boats

The America’s Cup race was first held in 1851 as a race around the Isle of Wight. It was won convincingly by the American team on the schooner ‘America’ after whom the event was named. The 36th America’s Cup Match will see the boundaries of design and innovation pushed yet further with a new class of Bermudan rigged ‘AC75’ foiling monohulls. These 75ft boats have T-wing hydrofoils mounted on the port and starboard topside longitudinal drums and no keel at all! Watching these boats sailing (or flying) in close quarters, whilst reaching incredible speeds on their foils will provide stunning viewing!

Portsmouth regattas

Portsmouth remains an iconic venue in the modern America’s Cup story, having hosted the America’s Cup World Series events that brought foiling Cup-class racing back to the UK. Thousands of spectators lined the waterfront as teams showcased high-speed action in challenging Solent conditions. Our RIBs supported media, organisers and guests throughout these memorable events.

Barcelona 2024

The most recent America’s Cup Match, held in Barcelona in 2024, saw Emirates Team New Zealand successfully defend the trophy against INEOS Britannia. The foiling AC75s delivered dramatic, high-speed racing close to shore, attracting global attention. The victory continued New Zealand’s dominance and set the stage for an exciting new cycle toward the 2027 event in Naples.
