The Perfect Launch Point
Solent Rib Charter provide a peerless Hut transfer service from Lymington Yacht Haven. We are fortunate to operate from the closest mainland port to the Hut, which significantly increases the chances of getting there, and back, if conditions are too blustery to travel from further afield.
At a glance
Lymington is a beautiful Georgian market town in the heart of the New Forest National Park and close to The Pig, Lime Wood as well as Chewton Glen. Lymington Yacht Haven, a five-gold anchor marina is the perfect launch pad for your Hut trip. Oodles of free parking make for a stress-free arrival. The wonderful ‘zingy’ Haven Bistro is on the first floor of the main marina building. It has panoramic Solent views from the Needles to Cowes. Helen and her team have created an excellent venue with a consistently good food and service. A wonderful balcony to enjoy a coffee whilst you await your friends. The Haven is also a splendid place for a glass of Pimms on your return. The marina is on the shore of the Solent rather than miles inland; a scenic tour through the SSSI protected salt marshes puts you on a heading for the Hut. Let us know if you want to route via Hurst Castle, The Needles or other iconic landmarks.
Experience the Beauty of the Western Solent
Beyond the delights of the Hut, the western Solent is awash with stunning scenery and iconic landmarks. The Needles need no introduction, but you may not have seen the extraordinary coloured cliffs in Alum Bay with dramatics hues of pink, red and gold. For history enthusiasts, Hurst Castle, built by Henry the VIII in 1541 and expanded into a massive Napoleonic era fortification to guard the Western approaches. The ancient Island town of Yarmouth with waterfront castle and wooden pier is charming.
The Hut Colwell Bay
The Hut has an unrivalled passion for simple yet delicious food, and a buzzing atmosphere that delivers every time. The restaurant is situated on the beachfront and is known for its breathtaking views across the Solent. It will come as no surprise that The Hut specialises in freshly caught local seafood, yet the menu is broad enough to appeal to all tastes. A cunning system of shades, blinds, canopies and sliding roof panels enables the restaurant to ‘manage’ the environment to create a sun trapped dry and sheltered venue in all but the worst storms. The Hut has snagged the perfect shoreside location with ‘blue’ white sand beach and magical views across the Solent to Hurst Castle. The sun pours in all day long.
