We really are ‘March’ing our way into the summer season now, it won’t be long till our boats are here, there and everywhere around the Solent. Already this week we have several charters out for those who don’t mind braving the colder weather!
Many of our clients ask us to help with planning their day on the water, including where to go and what venues we would recommend for lunch. So below, we’ve put together a list of recommended places to go and some of our top lunch venues on the Solent.
What to see
Some of the top destinations on the Solent:
- The Needles – Famous rock formation on the western side of the Isle of Wight, great photo op!
- Hurst Castle – located at the end of Hurst Spit it’s an easy ‘fly-by’ on the way to the Needles.
- Totland Bay – an excellent spot to drop the anchor.
- Yarmouth – A small historic shoreside town on the Isle of Wight, accessible at all states of tide.
- Newtown Creek – a peaceful, natural harbour which is home to several resident seals!
- Beaulieu River – a beautiful trip up to the Master Builders.
- Cowes – Large shoreside town on the Isle of Wight and the sailing capital of the Solent.
- Osborne Bay – Another great place to drop anchor, overlooked by the famous Osborne House.
- The Forts – Just off the coast from Portsmouth there are four Napoleonic era forts; Spitbank, St Helens, Horse Sand and No Man’s Land.
