A scenic stroll along the Solent Way
A 60-mile long stretch of coastal paths, stretching from Milford on Sea to Emsworth, the Solent Way is the perfect pastime on a Summer weekend – even if you do just complete part of it!
A particular highlight is a 5-mile stretch starting in Beaulieu, passing through ancient woodlands and salt marshes before finishing at Buckler’s Hard, a historic shipbuilding village with a charming hotel/restaurant, The Master Builders.

The SeaCity Museum, situated in Southampton, offers an engaging glimpse into the Titanic disaster. The museum features a 1:25 scale interactive model of the ship, and tells the story of the tragedy’s impact on the city and its residents. This educational experience will appeal to all ages.
Moonlit Paddleboarding at Milford on Sea
For something a little more out there, you could join a moonlit paddleboarding session from Keyhaven Quay to the historic Hurst Castle. Kitted up with all the gear and led by the stary sky above, this has to be on the most unique ways to explore the coast.
Cycle hire around the forest
When the sun is shining, there are few better ways to explore The New Forest than on two wheels. With hundreds of miles of trails to be explored, the area is perfect for both seasoned cyclists and families with young riders alike. Bike can be hired from various points around the forest, including Cyclexperience In Brockenhurst and The Woods Cyclery in Lyndhurst – both of which enjoying direct access to the most scenic routes in the forest. Many consider Lyndhurst to be at the heart of The New Forest, and just a short drive from Lyndhurst is Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary. From a purpose built viewing platform, you’ll be able to watch wild fallow deer being fed every day by the rangers (usually around midday). It’s a fantastic experience for all ages, but particularly the youngsters. Keep an eye out for other forest wildlife too!

With a beautifully kept garden and access to Palace House and Beaulieu Abbey too, it makes for a full day out.
Sailing experience at Calshot
Another way to get out on the water, whilst learning a new skill, is a sailing session at Calshot Activities Centre. Set on a historic spit with panoramic views of the Solent coast, the centre offers taster sessions and courses for all ages and abilities. Not only this, but Calshot Activities Centre also has an indoor ski slope, several rock climbing walls and a velodrome too!
