The last of the summer bank holidays is this coming weekend, with a forecast of light winds and sunshine we’re in for a busy one!
If you take to the Solent this weekend, keep your eyes peeled for the 2022 Cowes-Torquay-Cowes Powerboat Race. It’s a spectacular sight and one that easily draws your attention with the roar of their engines as they blast across the course. Starting in Cowes at 10am on Sunday 28th August, we have found that the best viewing point is to be by Hurst.
The Race first started in 1961 as the Cowes-Torquay Powerboat Race, initially sponsored by the Daily Express newspaper, soon became a staple event and in 1967 the course was increased to go from Cowes-Torquay-Cowes.
Our operations manager, Jack Weller, has competed in the race several times over the years and this year will be no exception. He will be the throttle man racing in Pippa (race number 1-21), you can see Jack in action by clicking the link below!
