Those who have chartered with us over the years may remember Guy Winstanley as one of our skippers, Guy has been working on a ‘heat battery’ to help combat carbon emissions generated from our homes.
Sustaining our planet and helping to aid change for the future is a cause we can certainly get behind and so we’d like to share Guy’s plans for Caldera Heat Batteries.
A great solution for one of the UK’s biggest decarbonisation challenges – decarbonising heating and hot water in our homes which accounts for 15% of the UK’s total carbon emissions. The company has developed a Warmstone Heat Battery that stores excess off-peak wind and solar energy allowing it to be used for heating and hot water on demand. The technology is particularly suited to homes that are poorly insulated and use Oil or LPG as an alternative to heat pumps.
