September can be one the best months to explore the waters of the Western Solent. As the summer crowds start to thin out, the Solent transforms into a boaters paradise. Whilst the weather might be cooler the waters are quieter, and the sunsets take your breath away. The event calendar is also packed with a range of fun activities to explore, from regatta’s and the annual Southampton boat show to unique New Forest traditions. The best way to explore all September has to offer and beat the crowds is by boat.

The Big Marine Spectacles
Southampton International Boat Show returns to Mayflower Park from 18th – 27th September. As the UK’s biggest marine festival, with a range of entertainment for the whole family, it is an event not to be missed. Why battle the heavy city traffic, when you can arrive in style. Our ribs offer a VIP experience taking the stress out of your journey and dropping you right at the heart of the action. It is also a great opportunity for corporate entertaining, offering clients an invigorating blast across the Solent adding more fun to the day before heading to the show.
Just a week earlier the Solent bursts into colour for the Little Britain Challenge Cup, running on 11th & 12th September. This famous property and construction regatta is a high energy fun filled event. Grab yourself a front row seat on one of our Ribs, getting you closer to the action and soaking up the fun.
Historic Landings and Hidden Gems
On the 19th September visit Hurst Castle Heritage Open Day. This imposing Tudor fortress sits on the very edge of the New Forest spit, guarding the entrance to the Western Solent. With free entry this is a brilliant destination for all the family.
For maritime history enthusiasts, keep an eye out for the Steamship Shieldhall, in Southampton dock on 13th September. Cruise alongside Britain’s largest working steamship in a Rib, putting her massive scale into perspective, whilst gaining the best photo opportunity.
Pigs, Pints, and the Perfect Lunch Run
The New Forest is preparing for one its famous ancient traditions; Pannage Season starting 14th September. This lasts for 60 days where hundreds of domestic pigs are released into the forest to snaffle the acorns. Cruise up Beaulieu River to Bucklers Hard and take a short stroll inland to spot the forest pigs, and grab a spot of lunch; maybe not sausages!

Finally, no September charter is complete without an end of season lunch run to The Hut. This is a great month to enjoy the Isle of Wight’s most iconic beachside restaurant, soaking up the vibrant atmosphere but without the chaotic summer rush.
