Whether you’re a seasoned pro or newly qualified, our bareboats provide unparalleled freedom to explore the Solent at your own pace. You will have the opportunity to create your own itinerary and explore the various seaside towns and ports within the local area.
Staying safe on the water
During the peak of Summer, The Solent can get extremely busy and familiarisation of the local area is vital before hiring a bareboat. For newly qualified skippers we recommend being paired with one of our seasoned skippers for your first charter. Our skippers come from an instructing background and will be honored to pass on their knowledge of navigating the Solent safely.
Before leaving the dock, we ensure that all charterers complete a passage plan and a safety brief, which details the weather forecast and expected conditions along with key safety information for the day ahead. Planning your route allows you to anticipate the varying weather condition and sea state allowing for minimal risk.
Qualifications
We require qualifications to operate our bareboats, a RYA Powerboat Level 2 or ICC qualification, or equivalent. We also require that you have experience out on The Solent and a good level of local knowledge of the area.
The Handover
If you are a previous customer of ours, the handover can be completed in a matter of minutes. New customers will need a thorough handover highlighting the operation of the vessel and location of safety equipment. We often suggest the rest of the party grab a coffee from the Haven bistro while the skipper receives the handover.
Once the keys have been handed over and all is set, it is time to round up your crew, life jackets on and head out.
Lunch Locations
After a few hours on the water, your crew are sure to have worked up an appetite. To make it a little easier for you we have put together a list of top venues to visit.
The George – Yarmouth, Isle of Wight
A beautiful 17th century townhouse, converted into a waterfront venue, overlooking The Solent, just a stones throw away from the short stay pontoon.
The Hut – Colwell bay, Isle of Wight
One of the most popular venues in The Solent. Why not arrive in style? Anchor up at Colwell Bay and wait for their tenders to pick up your group and transfer you ashore.
The Folly Inn – Cowes Isle of Wight
The Folly Inn is a rustic pub perched on the banks of the River Medina just up from Cowes. Very popular with both yachtsman and motorboat people.
Master Builders – Bucklers Hard, Beaulieu
The Master Builder’s House Hotel holds a stunning view overlooking Beaulieu River, a haven for relaxation and delicious dining.
